Hill Design (B)
The goals of this hill design were to create a larger amount of usable area at the top of the hill, and to provide access to the usable space at the bottom of the hill, also to retain the hill itself to stop erosion. Three tiers of stonewalls were built, the area behind the top wall filled to create a larger area off the house. Stone steps were installed to provide easy access up and down the hill. A stone walkway and steps were installed on the side of the house, providing access from the front to backyard. A stone patio was installed off the back of the house. The design was planted with perennials and specimen trees and bushes. This design is featured in the book Stone Features.
